Who we are
GoSquatters Technologies Ltd (RC XXXXXXXX), registered at 18 Address road, Location, Lagos, Nigeria, operates the GoSquatters app and website. When these terms say “we” or “us”, that’s who you’re dealing with. When they say “you”, that’s every person who creates an account, whether you’re looking for a room or offering one.
By creating an account you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, don’t use the app — it’s that simple, and there’s no hard feelings.
Using your account
You must be 18 or older and use your real name and a real phone number. One person, one account — you can hold both the seeker and host roles on it, but you may not run several accounts to work around a suspension or inflate a Trust Score.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at support@gosquatters.online the moment you think someone else is using it.
Things that get an account closed
Listings and verification
Hosts are responsible for the accuracy of every listing: the rent, the room type, the photos, and the right to sub-let where the host is a tenant. A Verified Property badge means one of our field agents stood at the front door and matched the address to the photos on a given date. It is a snapshot, not a guarantee, and it does not survive a change of address or a change of host.
Identity verification checks a government ID against a selfie through our verification partner. It tells you that a person is who they claim to be. It does not tell you they will be a good housemate, and we make no claim that it does.
Verification is a check, not a promise.
Money and subscriptions
Rent, caution fees, agency fees and deposits are agreed and paid directly between you and the other party. We hold no funds, offer no escrow, and cannot reverse a payment. Any dispute over money is between you and the person you paid — though we will act on reports of fraud and remove the account involved.
The only money we charge is the optional subscription of ₦1,500 per month, billed through Paystack. Cancel any time from Settings; access runs to the end of the paid period and part-months aren’t refunded.
Reviews and Trust Scores
Reviews are revealed simultaneously once both sides have written one, or after 14 days, whichever comes first. We don’t edit reviews for tone. We do remove reviews containing personal data, threats or provable falsehoods, and we may remove a review traded for money or a discount.
A Trust Score is generated, not awarded. It is built from verification status, review history, Promptness Points and account age. The formula is ours and may change as we tune it. Nobody can buy a Trust Score.
Ending things
You may delete your account at any time from Settings ▸ Legal ▸ Your data. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law stops us. Nigerian law governs these terms, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction.
We update these terms from time to time. Material changes are announced in the app 14 days before they take effect. Every past version is kept, and we’ll send you any of them on request.
